Portside Arts Center will be back at the Fest this year with a face-painting booth!
By building self-awareness and appreciation of one’s own inner creativity and artistic skills, Portside Arts Center aims to transform the lives of individuals, improve their academic and economic success, and awaken social and civic sensibilities to raise the quality of life in our neighborhoods.
The Portside began their first Mobile After School Arts Initiative program in 2010 at Alexander Adaire Elementary providing two arts classes and one music class serving over 40 children. The children attended 20 classes held at the school, and the program was such a success that Portside was invited back for the 2011-2012 school year. For the 2012-2013 school year the Mobile After School Arts Initiative received support from State Rep. John Taylor through Impact Services. The program now reaches 6 local schools with 20 arts classes at each campus and an art exhibition for family and peers.
Portside Arts Center on Lehigh Ave. offers classes for children, teens and adults including painting, drawing, stained glass, set design, acting, dancing, singing and and a variety of musical instruments. There are year-round classes as well as a summer arts camp and art parties.
