What’s a Kinetic Sculpture?
A kinetic sculpture is a human-powered vehicle that is also a sculpture. Like parade floats built around bikes, wagons, and hand-cranked platforms.
What’s the Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby?
Hosted by the New Kensington Community Development Corporation, the Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby is the featured event at Trenton Avenue Arts Festival. All entries will get to ride their kinetic sculptures along the parade route, showing off their art and putting their engineering skills to the test. Ride solo or form a team—it’s up to you! Award categories include Best Art, Best Engineering, Best Costume, Best Breakdown and People’s Choice. But don’t worry, it’s a parade, not a race. Design the craziest contraption you can come up with and enter the event.
Rad! Where do I sign up?
We knew you’d be into it. Just head over to KineticKensington.org to learn more and register!
